Old town is located about 14 km downstream from centar of Zenica-Doboj canton. It is situated on the left side of the valley from river Bosna. At this spot, river Bosna is most narrow and so it has a gulch-like shape. The name Vranduk was mentioned for the first time in year 1410. |

Vranduk
Vranduk is only one of many mid-century towns in Bosnia, which are located in region that represents the area where intensive political, economic and cultural life was developing. It consists of Citadela with the main tower and remains of wall, which surrounded this mid-century town area.
Very close by the tower, a mosque called Emperors or Sultans Mehmed Fatih has been build. According to some data it was build on the basis of mid-century Church. Today, there is a tunnel, which was build after WWII, that goes under Vranduk.

Ime Vranduk se prvi put spominje 1410. Ovo područje je uvijek bilo od geostrateškog značaja. Uloga Vranduka je bila da kontrolira saobraćaj iz pravca Panonske nizije (Mađarska i Austrija) preko rijeke Bosne, pa do Jadrana.
Vranduk je samo jedan od mnogih srednjovjekovnih bosanskih gradova, koji se nalaze u ovom regionu koji je predstavljao područje sa vrlo bogatim političkim, ekonomskim i kulturnim životom. |

Stari grad se sastoji od citadele sa glavnim tornjem i ostacima zidina, koje su opasavale središte srednjovjekovnog grada. Vrlo blizu tornja je sagrađena džamija Sultana Mehmeda Fatiha. Prema nekim podacima, ona je sagrađena na ostacima srednjovjekovne crkve. Danas postoji i tunel, sagrađen u Drugom svjetskom ratu, i on se nalazi ispod Vranduka. |
